Refresher driving lessons for older drivers
A refresher lesson can focus on the roads, manoeuvres or car controls you would like to feel more comfortable with.

You do not need to repeat everything you learned years ago. A refresher lesson can concentrate on the things you want help with: a busy roundabout, parking, a different car or returning after a break.
Choose what you want to work on
Tell the instructor which journeys you make and where you feel less comfortable. You might want to practise a familiar route, discuss changed road layouts or spend time understanding controls in a newer car.
Work at a useful pace
Agree a small number of priorities before the lesson. Afterwards, ask for clear feedback on what improved and what needs more practice. Age alone does not tell an instructor which skills you need to work on.
What a lesson cannot do
A refresher lesson is not a medical assessment or a decision about your licence entitlement. If you have a health or eyesight concern, seek the appropriate professional advice and check DVLA’s requirements.
