I've been a driving instructor for 20 years, which means I've seen it all on the roads—and I've taught every type of driver you can imagine. Over the last two decades, my focus has always been the same: I don't just want you to pass your test; I want you to be a driver who keeps yourself and others safe for a lifetime. I am 100% committed to first time passes and keeping those great habits with you forever. When i am not on duty with the Driving Training Centre you might find me on call with the Young Drivers Association teaching 8-16 year olds at the Royal Highland Centre at Ingilston

Frequently asked questions about driving lessons

How do I book my first driving lesson with The DTC?
Use our contact form or WhatsApp us to check lesson availability in Edinburgh or another area we cover. A local instructor will confirm the lesson lengths available and arrange your first session at a time that suits you.
Are your instructors fully qualified?
Yes. Every instructor from The DTC is a DVSA-registered Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) — no trainees, no Part Ones. We have qualified ADIs in English, Polish, Urdu and Punjabi, on both manual and automatic cars.
How long will it take to pass my test?
Most learners need around 40–50 hours of professional lessons plus private practice. We design a tailored plan for your test centre, with regular progress reviews so you only book the hours you actually need.
Do you cover my local roads and test centre area?
Yes. Our Edinburgh instructors teach across the city and surrounding areas, including Leith, Corstorphine, Morningside, Portobello, Stockbridge and Currie. Visit our Edinburgh driving lessons hub or Areas We Cover page for local details.
What are your lesson prices and block-booking options?
Edinburgh and surrounding instructor-covered areas: standard manual lessons cost £90 for two hours or £440 for ten hours. New customers can choose a first two-hour manual lesson for £75 or a first ten-hour block for £400, not both. Dunfermline is excluded from the promotion and remains £95 for two hours or £450 for ten hours. See our prices page to compare manual and automatic lessons and check offer eligibility.
Do you offer automatic driving lessons?
Yes. We have dual-controlled automatic tuition cars in the areas we cover. Automatic-only learners cannot drive manual cars, so we focus purely on building safe, confident automatic driving.
