Build road awareness, planning and positioning without managing a clutch or manual gears.
Regular feedback, progress records and mock-test preparation give you a clear view of what to practise next.
Most lessons with The Driving Training Centre are 90 minutes or two hours. That gives you time to get from your pickup point to suitable practice roads, work on your skills and return without rushing. Discuss the best length for your location and experience with your instructor.

I've been a driving instructor for 20 years, which means I've seen it all on the roads—and I've taught every type of driver you can imagine. Over the last two decades, my focus has always been the same: I don't just want you to pass your test; I want you to be a driver who keeps yourself and others safe for a lifetime. I am 100% committed to first time passes and keeping those great habits with you forever. When i am not on duty with the Driving Training Centre you might find me on call with the Young Drivers Association teaching 8-16 year olds at the Royal Highland Centre at Ingilston

Local preparation
Learn across the everyday road types and driving conditions found locally, without relying on memorised or unofficial test routes.
DVSA does not publish fixed test routes. We focus on building your confidence across the real road types and conditions you're likely to meet on test day, not on memorising specific roads.
Edinburgh lessons can build experience across city-centre traffic, residential junctions and larger roads such as the A720. The roads used depend on your pickup point, lesson length and progress. These are city-wide practice examples, not a claimed Currie or Musselburgh test route.
Not listed? Ask us — we likely cover your area too. Our instructors are flexible with pickup locations.
Tell us your postcode, preferred lesson times and whether you want manual or automatic. We will check which instructors cover your part of Edinburgh.
