I've been a driving instructor for 20 years, which means I've seen it all on the roads—and I've taught every type of driver you can imagine. Over the last two decades, my focus has always been the same: I don't just want you to pass your test; I want you to be a driver who keeps yourself and others safe for a lifetime. I am 100% committed to first time passes and keeping those great habits with you forever. When i am not on duty with the Driving Training Centre you might find me on call with the Young Drivers Association teaching 8-16 year olds at the Royal Highland Centre at Ingilston

I've been a driving instructor for 14 years, and I genuinely love what I do. As an approved instructor specialising in automatic transmission cars, I take the complexity of gears and clutch out of the picture so you can focus on the road ahead—and on building the habits that keep you safe. I believe confidence isn't just something you earn from passing your test; it has to be built, patiently and deliberately, one lesson at a time. My students often tell me that I've helped them go from nervous first-timers to self-assured, safety-conscious drivers, and that means the world to me. If you're looking for an instructor who cares as much about your confidence as I do about your safety, I'd love to work with you.

“I had a week left before my driving test, and Karine instantly assisted me and helped me find an instructor. Jez helped me pass my test on my first try because he’s a great teacher. I wouldn’t have known how to do the test without him. Recommend!”

Driving lessons in Danderhall

Pickups include Shawfair, Millerhill, Newton Village, Dalkeith and EH22.

Driving lessons in Loanhead

Learning in Loanhead means planning for both local streets and the busier A701 corridor serving Loanhead, Bilston and Straiton. Tell The Driving Training Centre your pickup point and preferred times so we can check an instructor and a lesson length that suit your journey. Manual and automatic availability is confirmed individually.

Loanhead pickup or Straiton pickup? If you want to start near work or shopping at Straiton rather than at home in Loanhead, include the exact address in your enquiry. A meeting point needs to be agreed with the instructor; a retail car park is not automatically a suitable lesson or practice location. Say whether you need to finish somewhere different too.

Allow time for a separate test-centre practice journey. A lesson starting in Loanhead and one focused on the roads around your booked test centre need different planning. Ask how much of a 90-minute or two-hour slot would be spent travelling, and what skill you will work on. You do not need to choose a test centre solely because it is featured on this page.

Pickups include Straiton, Bilston, Roslin, Lasswade and EH20.

Driving lessons in Roslin

Looking for lessons from Roslin or nearby Bilston? Tell us which village you need to start from, your manual or automatic preference and your available days. We will check coverage before agreeing a regular slot.

Roslin and Bilston are not the same pickup. Please give your full postcode rather than selecting the nearest familiar place name. If you travel between the two villages for work or family commitments, tell us where you want the lesson to finish as well.

Allow for journeys beyond the village. When you are ready for test-centre preparation, ask how much of the lesson will be spent getting there and back. Choose the session length together so there is time for useful practice, feedback and a safe return.

Pickups include Bilston, Loanhead, Rosewell, Penicuik and EH25.
