Intensive Driving Courses

Pass your test in weeks, not months. Our intensive driving courses condense your learning into a focused programme with daily or near-daily lessons, full mock-test preparation, and a dedicated DVSA-approved instructor.

What is an intensive driving course?

An intensive driving course — sometimes called a crash course — compresses what would normally take months of weekly lessons into a shorter, focused timeframe. Instead of one or two hours a week, you will do multiple hours per day over 1–3 weeks, building muscle memory and confidence rapidly.

These courses are ideal if you have a deadline — perhaps a job that requires a licence, a university move, or a practical test slot that is approaching fast. They are also effective for part-trained learners who want to close the gap to test readiness quickly.

How it works

1

Assessment lesson

Your instructor assesses your current skill level and estimates how many hours you need to reach test standard. Beginners typically need 30–40 hours over 1–2 weeks. Part-trained learners may need 10–20 hours.

2

Custom schedule

We build a timetable around your availability. Most courses run 2–4 hours per day, Monday to Saturday. Longer days are possible if you are comfortable and your instructor agrees.

3

Structured progression

Each session builds on the last. Your instructor tracks progress against the DVSA syllabus, ensuring you cover all manoeuvres, junction types, and independent driving before test day.

4

Mock test + final prep

A full mock driving test 1–2 days before your real test identifies any last-minute gaps. You will go into the test centre knowing exactly what to expect.

Is an intensive course right for you?

Intensive courses suit some learners better than others. Here is what to consider.

✓ Ideal for

  • Learners with a test date already booked
  • People who need a licence for work or study
  • Part-trained learners with a solid foundation
  • Anyone who learns well through repetition and immersion
  • Students with flexible availability for 1–2 weeks

⚠ Consider carefully if

  • You have very limited availability (evenings only, for example)
  • You struggle with concentration over long sessions
  • You are a complete beginner with no road experience
  • You have significant anxiety around driving or tests
  • You cannot commit to daily or near-daily practice

Intensive course questions

How many hours do I need for an intensive course?
It depends on your starting point. Complete beginners typically need 30–40 hours over 1–2 weeks. Part-trained learners may need 15–25 hours. Your assessment lesson gives you a realistic estimate.
Can I do an intensive course if I have never driven before?
Yes, but it requires dedication. Complete beginners can succeed on an intensive course if they are comfortable with long sessions and can commit to daily practice. Some learners prefer to start with a few standard lessons first to build basic confidence.
Do I need to have passed my theory test first?
You do not need to pass theory before starting lessons, but you must pass it before booking your practical test. We recommend starting theory revision alongside your intensive course so you can book the practical test as soon as you are ready.
How much does an intensive course cost?
Intensive courses are charged at the standard hourly rate for your area. There is no premium for the intensive format — you simply pay for the total hours you need. Block booking discounts may apply for larger hour packages. See our prices page for current rates.
What happens if I am not ready for my test after the course?
Your instructor will be honest about your readiness. If you need more hours, we can extend the course or switch you to standard weekly lessons until you are test-ready. We do not encourage learners to take the test before they are genuinely prepared.
Can I choose between manual and automatic for an intensive course?
Yes. Both manual and automatic intensive courses are available, though instructor availability varies by area and transmission type. Let us know your preference when you enquire and we will match you with the right instructor.
