Matching learners, not selling test dates
The Driving Training Centre runs this service to help learners with existing bookings. There is no subscription or matching fee. We do not scan the DVSA booking system, reserve appointments or change a test on your behalf.
A match is a possibility, not a guaranteed swap. Check your readiness and your instructor’s availability before agreeing to a different appointment. The DTC is independent of DVSA.
From listing to swap
- Add your booking and preferences. Tell us which dates and centres would suit you.
- Review a possible match. We notify you by SMS and email when a swap is available. Both learners must agree before progressing.
- Arrange the official swap. Agree who calls first, then each call DVSA separately on the same day. The website cannot complete it for you.
Check before agreeing
Both bookings must meet DVSA’s change, notice-period, location and test-type requirements. Read the current DVSA swap rules (opens in a new tab) before proceeding.
Both learners must call DVSA separately on the same day. Call 0300 200 1122, choose option 2, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Learner 1 requests the swap; learner 2 then calls to complete it. DVSA recommends that learner 2 calls by 4pm. Do not arrange a conference call or wait for a callback.
If learner 2 has not called by the end of the day, the request expires and you must restart from learner 1's call. DVSA does not notify learner 1 when this happens. The swap is not complete until DVSA confirms the new bookings.
What other learners can see
Public centre pages may show a test date, a broad time band and whether an earlier or later test is wanted. They do not display your name, contact details or booking reference.
Only booking references are shared through The DTC after both learners consent. Never give another learner your phone number, email address, driving licence number, theory test certificate number, home address, payment card details or GOV.UK login.
Questions before you start
Is The DTC Test Swap really free?
Yes. The DTC Test Swap is free. The DTC does not charge a subscription, success fee, admin fee or matching fee.
Should I pay someone for a driving test swap?
No. The DTC encourages learners not to pay anyone for a driving test swap. A genuine swap is an exchange between two learners who already have booked tests and both want each other’s slot.
Can The DTC swap my test for me?
No. Each learner must call DVSA separately on the same day. The DTC helps learners find a possible match, but cannot change either booking or complete the official swap for them.
Is The DTC connected to DVSA?
No. The DTC is independent and is not DVSA, DVLA, DVA, nidirect or GOV.UK.
What information should I never share?
Only booking references are shared through The DTC after both learners consent. Never give another learner your phone number, email address, driving licence number, theory test certificate number, home address, payment card details or GOV.UK login.
